Myth or truth? The statement: “You’re going to damage your eyes watching too much TV”, is a statement we all remember our parents saying.

After half a century of the existence of TV no eyes have yet been proven to be damaged by such consumption. People say the same thing for smartphones and tablets. But here too, eye damage due to potential radiation or such like can be excluded.  However, people with visual issues should make use of adequate reading aids.

Conclusion

The statement probably has a more pedagogic meaning as eyes cannot be overloaded, and, according to the current state of knowledge, electro smog does not affect the eyes in any way.
